Just got this yesterday. American Tactical Imports ATIGFX45MIL. It is well made. Haven't shot it yet. Hickock45 seems to like it. Anyway it is a faithful copy of a pre ww2 M1911A1. Most current copies don't have the curved spring housing of an A1. A1 had long beavertail, cut out space behind trigger. Pre war ones had checkered wood grips and were blued. Around 1942, plastic grips replaced the wood and parkerized finish was used. Hickick45 says it shoots low so, like Army ones, you aim high. I will post more when I test fire it.

Comes with 8rd mag. I replaced with 7rd military so it would be flush at bottom

My grandson, who is a SPC in US Army took it to range yesterday. Said it functioned perfectly using Fiocchi 230gr FMJ ammo and he was able to score hits at 75M. It has the look and feel of a Colt 1911A1. $400 well spent. Standard 1911 7rd mag fits fine. No feed or other function issues.

75M or 75 feet? 75 meters is almost 250 feet.

75m. Crazy as it might sound. I think luck had a lot to do with it but he did score 3 hits out of 10. The rest were shot at more conventional distance.

I took it out myself last weekend and found it not only looks like an M1911A1, it shoots like one. If you want adjustable sights, dont buy it but if you are comfortable with Kentucky windage, it is great. I was hatched on the Colt M1911A1 in the military. The fixed sights are easy to see and it is reasonably close. Love the feel and recoil. If you want a nice copy of the M1911A1 for less than 400, buy it.

I've been away from the 1911 Scene for several years having sold all of them in favor of more self-defense polymer pistols. Recently I've had the desire to pick up some 1911s again and, as luck would have it, the first two I've obtained are both S.A.M. manufactured guns and also American Tactical. The first is the ATI FX45 Military which is the 1911A1 full size Government version. Yes, this gun is a very close rendition of the original 1911A1 except for several features:
1) The hammer is slightly shorter and fatter
2) The sights are almost identical but the rear has two white dots
3) The magazine is an 8 rounder with thick black butt plate
4) The grips are wood and also much thicker than the plastic grips on the WWII guns.

I also want to keep the gun as original looking and feeling as possible so, the first things I did were to buy an original type flat bottom magazine and also replace the grips with accurate copies of the original plastic grips. The pistol is a pleasure to shoot and is totally reliable and accurate as to feeding, ejecting as any 1911 I've ever owned.

I bought this one used and it did have a problem with the thumb safety which did not keep the gun from firing when engaged. And, if disengaged without firing, the hammer would follow it down to the half cock notch. Here was my chance to try out ATI customer service. I called them and the CSR was very knowledgeable and agreed to either take the gun back or send me, free of charge, a new safety. I accepted the offer of a new safety. A few days later the package arrived and I received not only the safety but also a new sear, sear spring and sear pin. After doing some minor filing/fitting on the safety, the gun is now 100% safe again.
