I recently purchased 7 Ed Brown 7round magazines for my Ruger SR 1911. I took two of them to the range yesterday, and noticed that when I forcefully seated a mag with the slide locked back, a round would chamber about halfway. It was in the chamber far enough that if I had released the slide at that point it would have stripped another round from the magazine. The slide stayed locked back. Otherwise, they functioned fine. I couldn’t duplicate the stoppage with a Chek Mate mag. I suspect weak mag springs, but these are brand new mags. Any ideas?
