    Unusual double feed

I recently purchased 7 Ed Brown 7round magazines for my Ruger SR 1911. I took two of them to the range yesterday, and noticed that when I forcefully seated a mag with the slide locked back, a round would chamber about halfway. It was in the chamber far enough that if I had released the slide at that point it would have stripped another round from the magazine. The slide stayed locked back. Otherwise, they functioned fine. I couldn’t duplicate the stoppage with a Chek Mate mag. I suspect weak mag springs, but these are brand new mags. Any ideas?

Sent an email to Ed Brown two weeks ago, and haven’t heard back. I haven’t been able to duplicate the problem since, so I’ll just call it a fluke and keep on keepin’ on.

John May is the fellow at Ed Brown that you'll want to talk to johnmay@edbrown.com 573-473-2584.

Weak spring is always a possibility. You may want to search here for my posts regarding my experience with Ed Brown mags and how I fixed them.

I purchased 10 Ed Brown 8 round mags via the exchange program. They sit in a box unused now. I had so many problems with these magazines shooting IDPA that I basically threw them away. I even sent them back to EB and they could find nothing wrong with them. Chip McCormick RPM mags or Tripp Research mags work well.
