Does anyone know if any of the Colt 1911 mainspring housings fit a Springfield COMPACT ?

Yes, any mainspring housings made for the shorter grip-frame Colts (Officers ACP, Defender, New Agent), ought to fit the Springfield Compacts.

Beyond Colt, any aftermarket MSH described as 'Officers' or 'Compact' length, should fit, too.

The only non-standard mainspring housings are those for some ultra-compact ParaUSA pistols, that are even shorter.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

I would also check the SA area and look at SA on other forums and try to find threads where folks have switched out the SA housing on the pistol you have. Did SA put ILS in those? I know I have a couple SA Range Officers I bought back in the 2014-2015 time frame and they have ILS in the MSH.

Has anybody tried using a Colt trigger in a Springfield? I have a Mil-Spec which came with a G.I. style short trigger. i also have a brand new (old stock) Colt long trigger in my parts box. I'm thinking that if it works in the Springfield, it would keep my long fingers happy.
    i sold all my handguns. . . . . . . . . . except for the 1911 style pistols in .45 ACP.

The Colt trigger will probably work in the Springfield. Run the full course of safety checks.

I imagine it would work also, unless it's out of spec (being a new, never installed trigger).

One thing you might find different from the Springfield trigger is the pretravel or takeup. Check to make sure there is enough pretravel to allow the disconnector to reset.

The trigger bow might need adjustment to both move freely within the trigger channel, and to clear the magazine.
