Beginning to strongly like my Kimber Custom II now that I've had it 6 months

Right out of the box the trigger had an average pull of 4.7 pounds, which is right where I like it. It takes enough of a pull to be good for defense purposes but not too much to make accuracy difficult. Since I replaced the full length guide rod I've been able to practice clearing staged malfunctions using one hand only. We used to drill this during my law enforcement career under the premise that someday one hand or arm might be unavailable due to injury.

Earlier this week I took it to the range and was pretty happy with my results. My group is centered on the left side of the 10-ring so I still need to work on that. This target was done with three magazines loaded randomly with a mix of dummy rounds, Federal 230 gr "Hydra-Shok", and hand loaded LSWCs that have mild recoil compared with the Federals. This was at 7 yards. The 9 ring measures 2.6" by 3.7". For a senior citizen with so-so vision, I'm delighted.

One last thing; since day #1 I've had not one FTC or FTE stoppage with this pistol. This one is "a keeper".

    i sold all my handguns. . . . . . . . . . except for the 1911 style pistols in .45 ACP.

Nice shooting! Substitute "experienced shooter" for "old guy"

    My Kimbers are excellent, enjoy!

Lots of folks love to hate on Kimbers, and I agree. I'll give ya $200 apiece for all ya have, and put 'em in with the 12+ in my collection......

Congrats and good shooting. I have had five Kimbers over the years and they were all very good guns.

Lots of people want to bash Kimbers, my Pro Carry is a pre-series II, Stainless, and I enjoy shooting it and have had no problems.

Congrats, MuyModesto. My Kimber TLE has also not had any faliures and I have owned it for...maybe 8 years? I sometimes seems heavy to carry, but then a defensive gun is supposed to be comforting, not comfortable.

Once upon a time, I had four Kimbers, and my first, the TLE II, was the most trouble free (one of only two of the four that was) of them all. I sold the TLE II to a good friend, traded off two more, and kept the most troublesome one of all, as it was a present from the wife.

I did get it functioning reliably, after some work and a few higher quality parts, and still have it.

I purchased the last one in 2010, so hopefully they’ve gotten better since then. It does seem as if the negative posts about the brand have declined somewhat.
