    My Conversion on a Caspian

I got this 22 Conversion from a good friend in the early 80's. It languished in the box for quite some time as I really wasn't needing it. Time marched on and I had a 38 Super built up on a standard 1911 Caspian frame with every bell and whistle I could get on it with ambis, hand checkeing and the nice beavertail. For some reason it just never worked well in my hands and I moved on to a 9X21 Para dumping the Super barrel and slide. The frame was cut for a ramp but I figured nothing gained along with the fact I had a small ton of green backs in the frame so I slapped the conversion on top. It didn't have the #2 slide release with it but I happened to run into Bill Blankenshio, of Colt fame, at the IPSC Nationals and chatted with him. I had the slide stop in hand two weeks later from Colt and was in business. If you closely you may notice the steel Advantage plates under the Herretts. This gives me a wider grip and closer in feel to my Para double stacks. It also adds about 8 ounces..lol

I use this one when I want to go back to basics with my irons. I mostly shoot dots on my CF pistols but won't back off from an irons only match when the gauntlet gets thrown down in some of the Police Games I play. That means I have to get back in the saddle and 50 draw and fires with this gets the muscle memory coming back fast. I also bring it out when I have a new shooter and want to get them into the 1911 platform. The ladies appreciate the low recoil and since the operating surfaces are the same it is a great way to learn what to do before things speed up with more power and bark.

So here it is and I hope this is the right place.

BTW Any one have a source for more magazines?

This is the place, and that's another interesting pistol.

Does that conversion have the famous/infamous/notorious floating chamber?

Yes it has the floating chamber. The pistol runs perfectly.
