Help identifying the plating/coating on this 1966 Commercial Government Model

I recently picked up this government model cheap from a local guns store. It had an ambi-safety on it and hogue grips. Being modified and not having the original components is definitely why I got it as cheap as I did. I went through it and cleaned up the hammer and sear, adjusted the trigger to 3.5 lbs added night sights (old and some G10 grips. It's a good shooter.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what it was coated with. It has a bluish grey hue to it. I'm thinking it could be hard chrome done sometime in the 80's. Any thoughts or inputs on what kind of coating it is would be greatly appreciated.
