Follow up on grip safety problem.

Well, after reading all the great advice, here's what I came up with. Upon disassembling and testing the pistol, I discovered that the safety was barely engaging the trigger. I tweaked the right leg on the sear spring hoping to apply more pressure to the bottom of the grip safety holding it out, to no avail. I had replaced the mainspring housing with a flat one. After some judicious file work, I still could not achieve the clearance required. I reinstalled the original arched mainspring housing and........voila! I replaced the sear spring I bent and pistol functions as advertised. Now I feel comfortable carrying it cocked and locked like it was meant to be (after I test fire it). Thanks for all your help and advice.

You can study how the flat mainspring housing differs, to fix it if you want. It probably has a bit too much 'meat' topside, where the bottom of the grip safety engages it.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

Yes, I compared the flat one with the original arched housing and they appeared identical in that area. O filed away quite a bit of material in that area but it did not help. Not sure why, but anyway I put the original arched housing back on and the grip safety functions as it is supposed to. Thanks for the advice.

As I posted in your other thread, the brand of grip safety you used seems to have a widely held reputation for inferior quality for any of their parts.

I found that out. I was going to keep it for a spare and try to "massage" it into fitting. However, I took off a lot of metal to try and salvage it to no avail, so, seeing how important this is, I'm just going to circular file it. Thanks for the feedback. Going to the range to check functionality then back on my hip where it belongs.
