Well, after reading all the great advice, here's what I came up with. Upon disassembling and testing the pistol, I discovered that the safety was barely engaging the trigger. I tweaked the right leg on the sear spring hoping to apply more pressure to the bottom of the grip safety holding it out, to no avail. I had replaced the mainspring housing with a flat one. After some judicious file work, I still could not achieve the clearance required. I reinstalled the original arched mainspring housing and........voila! I replaced the sear spring I bent and pistol functions as advertised. Now I feel comfortable carrying it cocked and locked like it was meant to be (after I test fire it). Thanks for all your help and advice.
