    Military Stamp Restoration

I recently purchased a WWI Colt M1911 (32x,xxx serial range) Some person in the past has ground off the "United States Property" stamp. Does anyone here know of someone who can restore/ engrave the stamp back to look original? I am aware of Vulcan but want to avoid shipping to Canada if possible. Also would this pistol fall under the "Black Army" era or still have a blued finish originally?

You might try Turnbull. I am certain there are many other smiths that can restore the stamp.

I have read that David Clevenger will do roll mark replacement in addition to decorative engraving.

That serial number is in the "brush blue" range, the very dull "black army" series is taken to start at 400000 by Coolgunsite.
