First Range Session with STI Eite Tactical

I picked up my new STI Elite Tactical on Thursday from my dealer and got it out on Saturday. I'm extremely impressed. Without question, it is the most mechanically accurate handgun I've ever shot and the results from various accuracy tests are astounding to me. The design is intriguing, a Beretta style barrel action, a 1911 trigger, 1911 ergos and then a nice beefy grip due to to the double stack magazine. Nice and heavy, it is without a doubt, the smoothest shooting handgun I've ever used.

I'll let the results speak for themselves.

I was using cheapo Remington 115gr range ammo, hardball, FMJ, so nothing special there. The first image is my first test group of 20 rounds from 20 yards. I rested it on a beanbag. I was not yet used to either trigger or sights and had not adjusted the sights. The second image is of a rapid fire test from 10 yards, twenty rounds, shot in 15 seconds, offhand. The third image is my last test group after I had worked on the sights a bit, again, from a benchrest, six rounds. The flyer obviously is on me, but if you notice the four shots in that one group at the X ring, wow. That's from 20 yards again.
