Hello everyone, long time no post (10+ years). I have a question or two. I have pulled out my Springfield SS Loaded 40 S&W and have fallen again for 1911s so I went down and had a look around at some brands. For the last few weeks I have been researching 1911s and had a short list of manufacturers to try out. Being from Canada the first thing that hit me was the high prices and the fact that all the gunshops in my area are MSRP or higher, so what I thought I wanted just isn't financially possible. (I may even look at polymer guns).
SIG was on the short list and I looked at all their pistols, all were light and fairly nice but everyone had a lot of trigger travel which of course can be fixed but I don't want to be throwing money right off the bat.
Springfield Loaded TRP and Tactical were by far my favorites but 700 over the price of SIG.
Tried a SVI Infinity for fun, WOW.
Used STI tactical was very nice but not as nice as the Springifeld but cheaper
The surprise for me and the reason I guess im posting is I was handles a Remington double stack and it kind of shocked me at how good it was spec'd and how excellent the factory trigger is. Remington was never even on my radar due to the problems (tooling) they've had in the past and dip in quality on the rifle side of business. I know they bought out Para Ordnance and there is a lot of that gun in the new 1911. The Canadian built Para Ordnances were a dream gun to me and never last around here as they are bought up fast. My question is, is this gun as good as it looked? Has anyone shot one? Its coming in cheaper than the SIGs and has better sights, grips, trigger, and checkering? Should I consider another gun?
OR
throw some money into my Springfield by adding front checkering and a trigger job. What would I expect to pay for that?
