If you want something like what you have but taller, things might not be too hard. The rear sight isn't a problem. The front, assuming it's staked in place, can be replaced without machining the slide, provided you find one with the right mortise thickness.
Worse case scenario, you may need to enlarge that mortise hole slightly, which could mess up a drill bit, or three, but the cost is nothing like what a 'smith would charge to cut a dovetail.
With a larger 'series 80' mortise hole, you get options for Colt and similar 1911s, front and rear, that will be much easier to see.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.
