    Upload attachments?

I'm trying to upload photo attachments to a post using the file/attachment manager. I select a file from my computer to upload, the manager appears to go through a process to upload but no file is added to the upload window. I have a number of photos I want to attach to a post. I can copy and paste a photo into my post but I have a large number to add and this method seems to not be useful for more than one photo. The file type is a .png. Maybe the files are too large? One I have is 8Meg, and I have maybe 10 or so I'd like to post. Any help is appreciated.

The size restrictions are the problem. I have to shrink mine way way way down before the system will accept them. A recent one I posted was just 88 KB. Here's what it looked like when posted:Ejection Port 2 small.jpg

There was an issue with the software that handles the photo attachments. When our host shifted from servers in one state to servers in another state, that software didn't make the transition. John has been on the case and, as of late this morning, it appeared to be working correctly.

Please try again and, if you still have problems, let us know.

Guys and gals, as Hawkmoon explained in his message, there was a problem with the uploading function of our site, due to a necessary module missing. For some weird reason, when the site was moved to its current server, that module wasn't copied over, so uploading images produced an error.

That was fixed yesterday, however I would like to draw your attention to the followings:

    1. You can upload images of the following types : jpg, jpeg, png, gif.

    2. You may select up to 5 pictures to upload at a time. That used to be the default behaviour of vBulletin (the software we use to create this site), but at some point in time, it was discovered that the uploader module contained a vulnerability, so it was changed to allow only one file uploads. Today, I've patched the uploader with a different one, which allows you to upload up to five pictures. I did my best testing the new uploader, so I do not expect it to have issues, but if you do have any, please let me know, by posting here. If you need to upload more than 5 pictures, do it in more than one post.

    3. Since the images you upload are stored in our server database, we have to impose a size limit. The maximum dimensions of your uploaded pictures should be 1024x768 pixels (or less) and the maximum file size should be less or equal to 200 KB. If you try to upload larger images, they will be shrunk to the maximum size allowed, but depending on the image type and the uploaded image file size, you may get an error. I am not sure why this strange thing happens, but it does. In this test thread I created, the image of my wife is larger than 200 KB (329 KB) and it was shrunk to 86 KB, but the image size in pixels was not changed.

Please keep in mind that the new uploader has some limitations:

    1. It does not work on IE9 or lower, these users must upload one picture at a time. IE10, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera should all be OK. It also will not work in IE at all if IE10 or IE11 are running in IE9 Compatibility mode, which is required on vBulletin for the WYSIWYG editor to work in those versions. I do not have IE here, so I am not sure how limiting this is. Make sure you have the latest IE version, for your Operating System and try the new uploader. If you have an issue, post it here, together with your OS version and your IE version.

    2. If you choose to upload more than 5 files, you will get an error message when attempting to upload the extra files. Not a big deal but you should remember that, make sure you do not select more than 5 files. There is a text string that informs you, which is the max number of uploads allowed. See screenshot for details.
