Ran across this site while hunting for some info, still learning where things are etc but seems like a lot of good resource info here.
I try to collect the Browning-designed semi-autos, with emphasis on the earlier "pre-1911" Colt pistols but my first loyalty is to the 1911 platform.
My "first" was a Franken-gun Safari Arms frame, Gold Cup slide, Wilson barrel and mismash of parts bought back when Reagan was president...
still have it but have since rebuilt it with quality parts as it was basically a dangerous hunk of junk.
Current collection runs the gamut from 1900 Sight-Safety up through a recent Rock Island GI, including a nice Remington-UMC, M1914, some WW2 1911-A1's etc.
Anyway here's one of the Sight Safeties (the original "Long Slide") with a 1944 Remington-Rand, and a 1905 Military (the 1911's grand-daddy).
The 1900 is surprisingly accurate and much more comfortable than its awkward look would suggest.
