    Two Baers

Howdy, I have been a Colt guy since forever. A '78 Combat Commander, a 1991A1 Compact and a Wiley Clapp Government. Just after Christmas not quite a year ago, I found and purchased a Baer Thunder Ranch made in early 2000, amazing pistol and has become my daily carry. I installed a 10-8 wide rear sight and a Novak Mega Dot tritium in the front. Much better sight picture for me. Then out of the blue a couple of weeks ago, I was offered a vintage 2002 Baer Stinger. So far it is just as amazing as the TRS. I have installed Harrison small radius firing pin stops in both (all of my 1911's have Harrison stops). I replaced the springs in both pistols as well, the TRS now has a 16lb recoil spring and a 23lb mainspring. The Stinger has an 18lb recoil and a 23lb mainspring. Both pistols were not fired much when I bought them and both run perfectly with Speer Gold Dots, Rem Golden Sabers and my handloads, all in 230gr. I just finished reading through the Baer archives here, incredible amounts of information. So far, these two Hillsdale Baers are simply awesome.

    Good find, congrats!

The Stinger is my favorite carry gun. Shorter grip and Commander barrel works well for me.

Congrats on your two Hillsdale’s. An officers sized frame with a commander slide is a great summer carry.
