    Greetings fellow 1911 people

New to the site, but not new to the 1911.
Purchased first 1911 (Colt Government model 70 series ) in 1979. Currently own Colt government 70 Series (different one ), Colt Combat Commander, and a Kimber Ultra Carry.
I've built several ARs and now want to build a 1911. Hoping to pick up some pointers.

I found this site while doing some research on building my first 1911. There is some very good information in the Gunsmithing Sticky Threads.

Now 4 1911's later I still love the platform.
After reading more than a few negative reviews on Fusion, I've have stayed away from them, on the other hand, I've picked up some good quality slides, barrels and other parts from Remsport ( TRenabling), C&S, and of course Brownells.

Welcome to the group. My #1 regret from all the guns I've owned over my lifetime was when I sold my 1976 Colt Combat Commander. I now have 2 of the 04691 Commanders which are excellent pistols, but still, letting go of that old one with countless thousands of rounds through it was a boo-boo on my part.

Yes, I have some regrets in that department. Smith and Wesson models 29 and 686, and I hate to admit it, but I got rid of a Python, duh !!

Just to inform you new guys, that all Commanders are mine. You are just safe-keeping them, until I come and collect them.

Ask any old timer, he will explain this to you!
