    Baby Rock - Plus

I really like the Baby Rock. I'm not a huge fan of the .380 ACP aka 9x17mm. I know there is only 2mm between the 380 and the 9mm Parabellum. But this is my argument, there is only 2mm between the two. Why can't the 9X19 fit into the Baby Rock?

I'd really like to see the Baby rock in 9x19.Or even better to see RIA come out with something like the MIcro 9.

The 380 is generally a blow back action which is used for low pressure rounds. The 380 ACP usually run about 21,000 PSI or less pressure. The 9 MM standard loads run about 35,000 PSI pressure or less and require a locked breach. The +P and +P+ in 9 mm can produce 38,000 to 40,000 PSI and require a very well manufactured firearm with high quality material.

The 380 might be locked breach in the RIA mini pistol but I doubt if you could sqeeze a 9 MM into the small frame. Compare the a Springfield Armory EMP to the Baby Rock and you’ll see about how small a 9 MM can be manufactured.

I have carried 380 pistols concealed for many years and have seen people shot with the 380. If you put the bullets where they do the most good a 380 is good enough. I generally carry the 380 in hot weather where people wear less clothes and the small size of 380’s aid in concealment. In colder weather I normally carry a little larger pistol.

One advantage of the Baby Rock is they are very easy to shoot accurately.

The Baby Rock is blow back action. Even the Browning 1911-380 is only semi locked action and has disappointing regular .380 recoil. Even if the strength of the barrels were increased to withstand 9mm pressures the mass of the guns is too small for 9mm recoil. In 9mm they would kick worse than a Grendel 10
