One thing I am finding trying is holding open Kuhnhausens' books open while working on my casual past time. Seeing PDF versions of the books I purchased, I printed off the manuals at Fedex Printing on to an 8.5 X 11 coil bound version. This is a great boon to older eyes and having the pages lay flat as a reference when measuring and testing my work. I don't know if it is too costly from some but it is the best $80 spent in a long while (after looking at prices of frames, slides and barrels, I think this is imminently reasonable).
The illustrations and text scaled up quite nicely and is very clear. I highly recommend this to other beginners.
