I have now run 300 rounds through my 9MM Pro Carry this past week using both Sig Sauer 124 gr and the new Browning 147 gr. And it ran like a top. I used Kimber, Wilson, and Remington magazines without any issues.

Logically, it’s more likely for a 1911 to function reliably in a four inch model, compared to a three inch model, as there’s more time for the primary functions of the slide feeding the round to be achieved, stripping it from the magazine, loading it into the chamber, firing, then extracting and ejecting the empty case, stripping another round from the magazine, and feeding it into the chamber, as the slide moves forward into battery, That’s a good bit of activity that must be accomplished every time the pistol cycles.
So, what was designed to happen within the time available and amount of slide travel as originally designed for a five inch pistol, now has to complete all those same functions during the shorter time interval and shortened cycle of a 4 1/4” (Commander sized) pistol. It gets really compressed when it’s required to perform all of the same functions reliably within an even shorter time interval and in the space inherent in a three inch 1911.
The three inchers can be made to run reliably, but in some (like my Ultra CDPII), it took a bit of work on my part to make it reliable.

I also have a Ultra CDP II 3” bbl in .45. The only issue that I have experienced is feeding issues, I think that it is related to bullet design of some hollow point rounds, FMJ rounds feed. The only JHP that feeds in mine is the new Browning it’s nose is shaped closely like a FMJ.

This thread "went off the rails" at Post #13! The OP is about 9mm Pro Carry and 9mm Ultra Carry!
