    Randall Verification Help

Contemplating purchasing my first Randall and while researching ran across the detailed article by Rick Kennerknecht that is referenced here in several places.

I have two basic "newbie" questions stemming from the article:

    1) "Collectors should note that more than 322 Service Models were made from parts outside the factory after the company closed." (RK)
How can these post-factory pistols be identified?

    2) "
Also of significance is the fact that virtually every single Randall pistol which was ever produced, including prototypes, can be documented." (RK)
How can documentation for a specific pistol be obtained?
Searching here it seems like a Randall letter (similar to Colt Archives letter) was available at some point, I'm guessing from Mr.
    Kennerknecht?

The serial numbers of both pistols I'm looking at are well within the range described in the article for their respective models, with an RF prefix and "C" suffix.
Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!

With the RF prefix and C suffix, you should be good as far as them not being parts guns. Unfortunately, I don't think the Randall letters are available any longer. I'd LOVE to be able to get my hands on the historical data he had and continue the work - I've got two sons that would be able to continue beyond me. I hate the idea of that historical data being lost!

    Thanks!
I wound up buying both pistols the seller had (A131 and A112).
They came out of an older collection with some interesting provenance, but unfortunately the boxes are gone.

Hopefully the historical data will be preserved and someone else can take over.
I've seen pics of your collection, you have my vote

Indeed, these are great looking lads!
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

    Thanks!

Follow up question, should the A131 have a full-length guide rod like the A112?
