Has anyone tried the Underwood .38 Super +P 90 Grain Xtreme Defender ammo? If so how do you like it?

let me first say i have never used any underwood ammo, however i do reload using the lehigh bullets they use and specifically the 90 gr xd as well as the 90 gr xp and 65 gr xd. fantastic bullets, penetrate deep and leave a large wound cavity. recently i ordered some 200 gr .45 cal lehigh bullets and will work up a carry round.

I am wanting to get a 38 Super, and when I do, I will be using federal ammo in it. I have been using their Hydra Shock for many years and that is my go to round. I will also be going with something heavier that 90gr.

I've shot 124gn DoubleTap and CorBon from a Bear 4-1/4" gun. Both worked well. Didn't test either other than functioning. Have heard good things about Underwood.

I carry the Xtreme Defender in all my calibers. Check out the extensive review done on the Military Arms Channel on youtube.

I use Sig Sauer Elite Performance Ammunition 38 Super +P 125 Grain V-Crown Jacketed Hollow Point in mine with no issues. Pickings are slim for 38 Super in Central Texas.

Great round! They feed great in a 1911, accurate as all get out. Most people want to compare the Sig 357 to them but across the board most 1911s don't like bottle kneck shirt cartridges.

Just built a 38 Super on a Rock Island Government size pistol that is also 9mm Para. Just started reloading for the Super and am using Aguila brass until my Starline brass gets here. My best load so far has been with a 124 grain JHP over 8.1 grains of Blue Dot. Velocity averaged 1285 fps and the rounds grouped into 2.8" at 25 yards. The barrel is still new with about 75 rounds to date and I believe accuracy will improve once the barrel is broken in and everything wears in.
