Hi folks
I have some 45ACP brass with small primers . In regards reloading would the amount of powder used be the same as those with the large pistol primer. I cant find anything in manuals etc.
thanks in advance.

I have only saved them for possible desperation.
Two scarp cans does not take up that much more room on the floor.
Hi I am getting near desperation. I found a few hundred brass in new shape and just wondered if the amount of powder be the same as with large primers. So far I am using 4.0 Tite group(230 lead round nose) and no difference than with large primers. That being said my RCBS pro 2000 press does not like the small primers nor does the RCBS strip primer outfit I have.
Cheers Ed. from the far north.
I have read anecdotal reports (meaning a couple, over the course of several years) from people who say they have used the small primer brass with the same powder charge as for large primers and didn't notice any difference. I haven't tried it, so I can't offer you anything more than that.

I haven't tried it but have heard from others that there is no difference in performance.
Here's a Shooting Times article discussing it.

As always, caution should rule when changing components when reloading.
I tried it after reading that very same article and noticed a 10fps increase.
Sounds like it works for you then. Of course now you have to remember sort your brass. Always something isn't it?
Can't help you on the press problem though. Do they not fit correctly?
If you change case, primer, or lot number of powder, it is best to drop the charge by at least 2% and work it back up.
The internal volume of the case is the "same."

I load SP brass with the same load as LP brass. No difference. Chrono'd to that effect too.
