Nice looking little pistol. It will be interesting to see what it will sell for in LGSs and on line. I pickded up a SR1911-10 last fall in a sale for $729 at a LGS and that was well below MSRP.

For what it's worth, the owner of the range where I shoot is left-handed. He's a 1911 guy, and has been shooting right-handed pistols for 35 or 40 years. He once told me that he had tried a left-handed 1911 and that he couldn't adapt to it.

I am much the same way. Although I shoot left handed I'm not naturally left handed. Just left eye dominant. I don't own a left handed shotgun since I have learned to adapt to the right handed shotgun. I shot a pistol right handed for years by closing my left eye. In the past few years though I have been trying to concentrate on my pistol handling skills since I carry concealed which has led to a return to basic fundamentals. I found I can shoot a pistol well with either hand but I am trying to be as consistent as possible in my training. I can make everything work left handed except the safety and the thumb manipulation is just awkward. It's not a problem in square range work.
That being said, it was not my intention to hijack this thread so maybe I will post this dilemma elsewhere. I wasn't trying to take away from the fact that Ruger seems to be embracing the 1911 platform in a big way. Better late than never I guess. I just wish more models with ambi safeties were available from the factory.
I'm right handed and every range time I try to shoot a few rounds left handed, most guns I can do alright except, a 1911 unless I shoot one handed only.
