    Ruger 9mm Officer! Oh yeah!

Ruger has just announced a new Officer Model chambered in 9 mm. Here's one of the first reviews:

Trying to fill all the niches in a saturated market.
Nice gun, but don't let it get dirty and don't expect the safety to "snick", eh?

    Shame on the NRA.

The Colt Officer's Model was a revolver. Colt's 3-1/2-inch 1911 was the Officers ACP.

Many companies have tweaked the compact 1911 over the years, introducing models like the Springfield Armory EMP and the Kimber Ultra. These guns may not be Officer’s Models in the technical sense, but one is not necessarily incorrect in referring to them as such.
Not to belabor a point but, yes, one IS incorrect in referring to them as "Officers Models" ... or as "Officers ACPs" or as "Officers."

Good catch, Hawkmoon, although I doubt anyone other than you and a couple of Colt employees know--or even care.

Speaking of Colt; I was on the website earlier and didn't see the "Officer's Model" even listed. Has it been discontinued or did I just not see it?

The Officers Model, or the Officers ACP?

Doesn't matter -- both were discontinued years ago.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt_Officer%27s_ACP (Note that Wikipedia perpetuates the fallacy that the Officers ACP is also known as the Officers Model.)

There's a 9mm Target now too. I guess Ruger is finding a home for itself in the non-45 market.

So will Ruger's next SR1911 be a CCO in 10mm???

What I'd like to see is a high capacity 9mm built on the Caspian frame. I believe Ruger casts the frames for Caspian so it shouldn't be too big a stretch to make a complete pistol.

It might also be nice to have a newer version of the 22/45. Something that shares more in common with the centerfire pistol.

I like that they are coming out with these different models but it sure is tough being a southpaw in a 1911 world.

Cabot Arms will take care of you -- if you have around $5,000.
