    Ruger SR1911 10mm Springweights

As title says any one have any ideals on the Springweights i've read 18.5# for recoil and 30# for mainspring ? the recoil seems light for the 10mm but if the mainspring is really 30 maybe not ..

Rugers Site lists 1 mainspring no weight and the 18.5 recoil spring

My understanding is that the 10mm guns run the same springs as the .45; 18# recoil and 30# mainspring.

Neither spring weight you mention is standard in a 5" 1911 in .45 Auto. Per Colt, Wolff and a few others, the correct rates are #16 and #23 respectively.

EDITED to add: wrong, read below...

You're right, I should have read it more carefully.

I can believe the 18.5lb recoil spring but I guess Ruger must measure the rating of the mainspring a bit differently than we're used to, because #30 sounds a bit... suspect. IIRC Wolff's highest available mainspring rating is #25!

And "standard" is considered to be 23 pounds for the mainspring. (In .45 ACP.)

I know the 30# sounds super suspect thats why i was asking.

i did send a email to ruger but no response yet i do realize its a holiday weekend so wasn't expecting anything real so thought id ask .. Im putting a order together for some spare parts for springs etc and some other stuff so figured might as well get a set for it as well .

Also gonna change the sights to something better for carry

I checked Wolff they go up to a 34# hammer spring

Wow, really? For a full-size mainspring (govt.-commander grip)? I know SA used something in the #28 range for their SLS safety mainsprings, but those were an odd length, internally. I guess they feel they need to use something this powerful, because of the reduced inertia of the titanium firing pin (which SA and others also use).

Imagine the hammer's half-cock notch hitting the sear nose, being propelled by a 34lb mainspring... yikes.

Got a response from Ruger today said I had to call to order the springs even though my 10mm owners manual lists the same part # as what’s in shop Ruger

And still didn’t give the weights of either spring

    Smh👎🏻🤦🏻
