    You're welcome!

Those sights looked familiar to me... I think they were made by Millet's. They were quite popular, being a fixed sight that gave you a sight picture like that of a Bomar sight. I guess Springfield probably offered them as an upgrade, hence the picture. They used the standard GI dovetail in the rear and staking at the front. Here they are in another old catalog, from King's Gun Works.

Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

Those Millet sights were a common user upgrade. I've bought a couple of used 1911s that had them. I say "had" because I think they're ugly, so I always replace them with current production Colt 3-dot sights.

King's sights are not the same as Milletts.
I really miss the King's. Good sight picture and don't require a hundred bucks of milling machine time for a boutique dovetail.

My Compact has the three dot fixed sights. The staked front and dovetailed rear. They appear original and shoot to point of aim with hardball. Never had to tap them around and it don't look like anyone else ever has either. I guess the Millet's aren't made anymore. Sad, they made a great revolver sight. That's a great post of the target sights. A lot of variety there. I'd sure like to have the wide spur hammer!

I've watched these SA Compact 45s for many years and always wanted one, but never found the right configuration. I bought a 4" Loaded Champion at one point and converted the dual spring system to a reverse plug and single spring, which worked fine. I asked SA why they stopped making the Compact with a standard plug and they said they changed configurations several times through the years and finally found the most reliable setup for a 4" 1911. They must be right because most quality compact 45s today use this configuration. I finally gave up on finding an original 4" compact from SA, and I now own and carry every day a Range Officer Compact 45. Oddly enough these guns are marked 45 Compact. and not Range Officer Compact, except for marking on the grips. SA has the 4" 1911 market down to a science with their new line of highly reliable and accurate Range Officer Compacts, although they have nothing to do with their Range Officer line of full size guns. I'm not sure why they didn't just name them Compact 45s. Congrats on your find of an original Compact 45. These are very underrated guns in my opinion.
