Hello New guy wants educated opinion

I want to buy a nice 1911, lets pretend price is no object (it is).

I want a decent 9mm or 45 1911 that has the capabilities to use a 22lr conversion kit WITH threaded barrel with standard threads 12/28 pitch , i believe I'm saying that right.

    thank you and hello

Pick your 1911 and go right ahead. I have .22 Rimfire conversions from Ciener, Kimber, and Iver Johnson. They have all been on multiple receivers, ranging from quality brand names to no-name frames I built myself, and they have all worked on every receiver I've put them on.

Best commonly available conversion available from the factory with a threaded barrel would be a marvel

Rock Island Armory has the XT 22 Combo. You can swap between a 22 and 45 acp barrel. Given any thought to something similar? I thought about doing something similar, but for what you can pay for a conversion kit you can get a dedicated 22LR 1911. Just curious.

    Hawkmoon,
GSG has threaded barrels on their .22 conversion kits. They also have a dedicated .22 1911 with threaded barrel, I have both.
My Kimber conversion has no threaded barrel.

Correct, but the OP specifically said he's looking for standard 1/2-28 threads. The GSG guns and barrels, being made in Europe, may have a metric thread on the barrel.

That said, the question wasn't what conversion kit to buy. If I understood the original question correctly, he asked for recommendations on what basic 1911 pistol to buy that will accept rimfire conversions in the future.
