Step one: Was it made in New York, or Massachusetts?

On a good day, can hit the broad side of a barn ... from the inside
Marked Thompson one side, New York other.
Okay, then, if it was made in West Hurley, NY, that would have been when Numrich owned Auto-Ordnance, before A-O was sold to Kahr Arms. I've lost track of when that sale took place, but I'm pretty certain it was at least ten years ago. I don't know that any records exist of manufacturing dates for the West Hurley guns.

Thank you very much. Gives me something to go on. While you are there, what is your opinion of this firearm. Are they fairly accurate and reliable? Tim
Just make up my mind for me, thank you. Tim
The “hit and miss” comment on the NY pistols is dead on only I would say miss rather than hit. Once Kahr got the line moving they have produced some fine GI clones I cannot comment on the rest of their line. My GI is difficult to tell from my 1944 Colt 1911A1 from a few feet away, is reasonably accurate and totally reliable. I would not purchase one of the Numrich pistols although I am sure there are many good ones out there.
