    colt 1911

I have 1911 my father brought home in 1919. He received victory medals for the ST.Mihiel and Meuse and Meuse Argonne defensive sector. I,m not interested in selling, but I would like to have a idea how to insure it. I will try to load a picture. the slide has Model of 1911. US ARMY Model #60983

That is an early 1914 gun and if not altered or neglected is worth a considerable amount of money.

    Mr, Vanderbos --

You asked this same question, about this same pistol, in January of 2008, and again in September of 2009. The responses you received then all said the same thing you're getting now -- it is not possible to even guess at a value without good photos. There is a description of how to post photos in our FAQ area -- to which you were directed almost ten years ago.

The members here will be happy to try to assist you, but you have to meet them halfway and provide something to work off beyond just a serial number.

If you could give us some up close , detailed pictures we could probably help you out.
Need some good photos. Flash photo burns out the middle and leaves the rest too dark to see. Outside in open shade works good, on a medium background.
Originality can't be restored, so put "originality" at the top of a priority list. If JMB didn't put it on the 1911 you don't need it.
