Anyone know the story behind the bronze DW Heritage?

Last month, I picked up a bronze over black DW Heritage and it's a fantastic pistol. It's a bit odd though, as they were priced well below a standard Heritage and there were very few made. I've read somewhere that they were produced a couple of years back, but never released and are now being liquidated for some reason. The one I own has sights dated 2014, so that could be accurate. Does anyone know the whole story about why these were made but not sold until recently?

This is the one I just bought:

Occasionally a dealer will order something unusual (in finish), then while the maker churns out the guns they think better of it, or run into other trouble, or-or etc-etc, and the guns end up being unwanted and sold off. Many of them end up in CDNN or some other liquidator this way.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

Does the serial number happen to start with a K? I assume it is a .45?

I’m pretty sure this is a Bill Hicks distributor special.

I cannot answer your questions, but it is a sharp looking piece. Almost to pretty to shoot, almost.

There are some on Gunbroker with a graphite frame and black slide. Someone needs to buy those before I give in to temptation.

It was difficult deciding if I wanted to order a Bruin in Bronze of Black. If they had been in my hand I probably would have chose the Bronze. As said above, the Bronze is almost to pretty to shoot.
