    Ruger 1911 Sub-Compact

Anyone hear anything about maybe Ruger will make a sub-compact 1911. A Ruger like a Colt Defender would be nice....Bill

I've heard nothing of that, is a nice idea though... Especially considering they do their alum frames with ti feed ramp. I suspect the reliability issues (with shorter slide stroke) may keep that from happening. Ruger does seem to have their stuff together though, they would be able to make a nice one.

I live in Prescott where they build the 1911's and know quite a few employees at Ruger, including some management and engineers. I've been putting a bug in their ear about this exact build for quite some time. So far nothing and they do a really good job of keeping new products quiet until they are released.

I have the Ruger Commander, (9mm) which is a great pistol. I did buy a Colt Defender(.45), which has been superb as a carry piece. I think Ruger could do well though with a Defender type at a price point. Ruger just makes good guns, I have many of them. Bill
