I use Frog Lube. The key to its effectiveness is heating the surfaces before you apply so that it actually melts into the pores of the surfaces. I use a heat gun and treat small areas at a time such as one half of one side of the frame at a time in order to ensure the surfaces are very hot. (Use gloves or thick cloth so that you don't slack off on the heat). It is much less messier than many other lubricants and I have found that it cleans better than Hoppes. I use Hoppes to clean first then the Frog Lube and it brings off more than the Hoppes does. If you do not melt it in, you will find a thicker residue after shooting. If you do melt it in, this residue will not be there.
Like someone's grandpa used to say "I can sit here quietly and let everyone think I'm stupid, or I can say something and confirm it for them."
