I have had a Lyman Cyclone rotary tumbler for a week now.

It it can with a two basket system you pour the bucket into when done, the upper bucket catches the brass and the lower collects the pins, quite handy.

I did not switch to pins sooner because I thought like a lot of life all I read about pins was to good to be true. I am never going back! My first load was 1,200 9mm cases for 2 hrs and they look brand new. Compared to 24 hrs for 300 cases and not real spiffy in my walnut tumbler there is no comparison.

The tumbler has a $25 mail in rebate currently for a total of $135

Wow! They look factory new. I plan on trying pins myself someday. Right now I use an ultrasonic cleaner followed by an hour in a tumbler with traditional media. It gives me a nice clean case but not like that! How much do the pins cost and did you purchase them online?

I got them from pelletsllc.com. Were not too expensive as they will last a long, long time. If I remember correctly they will now only sell a minimum of 50 lbs direct.
They make most of the pins sold by various sellers of the machines used to utilize them. you can probably get the best deal by using Google and searching for stainless steel pins. I use the XL size which is larger than what most of the tumblers come with.

Thanks for the info, I am going to look into it further. I wonder if pins are hard on the brass in the long run, or is this something that is not even worth being concerned about?

I don't think you need to worry about pins damaging the brass, something else will get it much sooner.

My tumbler came with the necessary pins, baskets and soap sample.

Been using an ultrasonic of late but it doesn't compare, Steves are the same way mine come out.
