    Doran, I believe you are on the right track. My plan is to call Umarex USA tomorrow and see about some warranty work.

    I bought the pistol back in 2011 and I do remember calling them about this issue when if first came up. At the time, they told me that they would take a look at my pistol, but if there was no problem with the gun, I would be responsible for the shipping costs both ways. I remember at the time that the shipping was pretty spendy, and so I decided not to take the chance. In hindsight, I should have. Now I know that something is wrong, probably with the safety, and I will see if they will be willing to fix my pistol.

    A quick update, I called Umarex and described my issue with the 1911-22. They instructed me to return the pistol and they provided the shipping label to return the pistol to them for repair. They should get the pistol today, let's see what they say.
