    STI Escort 9mm for CCW?

    Hello all

I want a more compact, quality 1911 in 9mm as an additional CCW, and the STI Escort seems to fit the bill. Would greatly appreciate any input and guidance from folks who have experience with this particular model. Are there any manufacturing years to avoid, or any specific issues to watch out for with the Escort? Thanks in advance for your input.

My wife and I own 7 handguns. Four of them are STI models.

My wife's two STI's are an Electra in 9mm and a .45 cal Escort. The Electra is really the same pistol as the Escort -- just fancied up to appeal to women. The .45 is my wife's favorite pistol to shoot.

Several members of our family have shot the Electra. Everyone of them loves it. It seems to be the most accurate pistol we own. It is incredibly well balanced, shoots well, is easy to return back on to target. Again, the Electra and Escort are really the same pistol with just cosmetic differences. Everyone wants to inherit the Electra -- it is just that nice a pistol.

So yes, the Escort in 9mm is an excellent pistol.

    Our pistols are:
    STI VIP (9mm)
    STI Total Eclipse (.45)
    Colt Commander (.45)
    STI Electra (9mm)
    STI Escort (.45)
    2 x Sig P238 (.380)
    STI VIP 9mm
    Sig P238
    Colt Lightweight Commander

Thanks, John - much appreciated! That sounds good - all I have to do is find a good used 9mm Escort!

I have the Escort in .40 cal, wanted a slightly larger caliber as I'm in the PNW, gets cold here and coats can get quite thick. With that said, the Escort us an awesome CCW. I shoot 100 rounds each Saturday of the lowest cost ball ano available. The accuracy of the handgun is amazing. I'd like to say it's me, but I never shot as well with my Springfield XD .40 cal.

I did did have a few issues with it but all seem worked out now. I posted these issues in this STI blog in April if you care to review. The only issue I currently have is finding a comfortable magazine holder. I'm a bigger guy and I suffer from the Dunlap disease. Kydex or any hard plastic don't work well. Many of the leather holders I have tried tend to peel out a round as it sits in the holder. Other than my search for the perfect magazine holder, it's a great handgun.

Thanks, EPete - appreciate the comments. I'll check out your April posts. Stay warm up in the NW - always enjoyed our P-3 flights up to Whidbey Island NAS for training.
