    Ambi safety problem

For years, Brownells carried a Mueschke-type ambi safety with the paddles in the current "teardrop" style as seen on Colt 1991 pistols (and many others). Not extended safeties. Naturally, now that I've decided it's time to buy a couple -- they are discontinued by the manufacturer. Brownells doesn't list them on their web site, and can't get them.

Does anyone know of another source for an ambi safety with a standard, teardrop design?

Armscor is (or was) using an ambi that looks just like those.

I was doing some 1911 work for a LGS, and needed the extended, grooved sear pin that holds the right side safety captive.

That was a couple or three years ago, and I'd seen some new Philippine 1911's with that same ambi setup. I believe the specific "brand" brand was "Hi-Standard."

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner.

Hawkmoon, if you hear of something offline, please post it here. I've been looking for the same thing for my Gold Cup for a long time.

Mr. Mueschke passed away about 2 years ago. His shop is still in business by one of his former employees. I do not know if the new owner continues to make the safeties. It is Mueschke manufacturing in Houston Texas.

    Is this the one?

They are sold out. And if Numrich are sold out...

    John Masen makes one also.
Another option is to try to buy a Colt Brand on eBay, they get listed on occasion. I've been lucky there, and managed to win a few, but I have one here with a crooked shaft.
I stopped using the Mueschke because I had problems getting them to work properly.

If Masen makes one, they hide the fact pretty well.

I should have looked first myself. I guess not although they did and someone had them listed on eBay, but then again maybe they were Mueschke too.
