These 2 knives are USMC issue according to what I have discovered. They have been in my possession for 22 years and I have just re-discovered their historical value to my father, a Naval Aviator USMC 1942.
The Cattaraugus 225Q definitely belonged to my father as his initial is scribed on the aluminum portion of its scabbard. Whether it was issued to him directly is unknown to me. I know that this knife is quite common.
The Fairbairn Sykes might have been issued to my father but I wouldn't have known this until I found that this knife was USMC issue as a US Marine Raiders stiletto, a USMC fighting knife.
The scabbards look correct to the knives. They appear to have been restitched as the original stitching still exists underneath the larger, newer stitching. I believe my father restitched these as I have two holsters he made for me when I was a teen.
I would greatly appreciate any input regarding these two knives and their value.
