Randall .45 ACP / Looking for Info

Looking for some more info on this. I've tried looking online but still confused because off all the models that were available.

Long story short. My Father picked this up today from the Daughter of one of my Fathers deceased best friends. This firearm was given to my Fathers best friend personally from Ken Lao of Randall firearms. Ken was good friends with my Fathers friends.

Here are some pictures with a very low serial number. I have blanked it out for time being. It appears this falls under the custom firearms serial numbers in which only 78 were made from what I could find online.

Looking to get as much info as possible on this from those who know way more about this than myself. I thank you all in advance for the information.

Looking for price point if it were to be sold, and just anymore information anyone might know about.

    Serial: RF00000**C

It's a fairly common "Service Model". If that's a 5" barrel, then it's an A-111, of which about 3,400 were made. Sounds like a lot.....now factor in the passage of 30 years, and the tendency of most gun owners to have .45's customized - that's not very many guns spread out around 50 states! The 2011 BB of Gun Values (the last year in which they listed the Randall values in print) showed its' value at $680 in 100% condition (which yours certainly isn't).
Having said all that.....SOMEone has made/is making a concerted effort to drive the value of these guns up, as many are being listed on GB and other sites at 2-3x their value as reflected above. Is it a true value given the increasingly scarcity of these guns? I kinda doubt it, since most aren't getting any bids at this point - but it MAY be a harbinger of what's to come, if folks such as myself simply refuse to sell these guns.

Hope the above helps a bit!

BTW - if anyone spots a flat-top, adjustable-sight SOUTHPAW Randall in .45, PLEASE let me know! That's the last one I need to complete my Randall collection!

Thanks for this info. I thought per one of the only sites that I could find that the special order serial number made it a bit more special :/ Also thought coming directly from the founder would help too but I don't know so that's why I ask.

At any rate you've been the only one who has been able to provide such great information. I am wondering your thoughts on firing this? Should this just be stored in a safe? Should it be fired as normal, or should guide rod be swapped before firing?

I'll keep an eye out for you down here as I'm in the surrounding Sunland area. I have cleaned this up yesterday. Wondering your impressions on grading with better photos. I truly value your words as from searching you are one of the only people to pop up frequently with Randall knowledge.

    Album of it cleaned up.

    Nice clean-up!

Nothing to indicate "officially" that it was a personal gift, so really no way to garner a higher value.

I own 9 of the 10 models of 1911's that Randall made in .45 - I'll readily fire any of them (including the 2 southpaws I own). I've been know to carry them as my defense gun on more than one occassion - especially the LeMays.
