ammo and magazine tips please, S&W 108282

Hi. I just bought a S&W M1911 #108282, won't get for a few weeks but whatever. Would like input from those with experience as far as what 45ACP ammo works well with this and also what brand mags have been good. Also if there is anything to avoid I would appreciate knowing. Thanks fellas!!!!!

I've shot a lot of commercial 45 ACP and have many favorites. Federal American Eagle, Winchester White Box, Winchester Service Grade, and Speer Lawman. As to magazines, have a gander at the Check Mate advert at the top of the screen I like their GI - dimpled follower - seven round mags.

I have the same gun, works well with anything ive shot so far. I picked up a couple chip mccormick 8 rounders and a 10 round mag, they all worked flawlessly as did the stock s&w 8 rounders.

my experience with 1911`s in general is any ball ammo from your lgs or favorite ammo store should work fine as should any premium hollow point ammo. the only ammo trouble i ever had with one was with reloads. GI mags do work fine, i got the CM`s for $18 for the 8`s and $22 for the 10 on midway. hard to beat that and cheap GI mags seem to always be out of stock anyway.

Mine, bought in `03 (has the "bill board markings) I really don`t have a round count, but a good guess about 19/20 thousand. Almost all reloads, 200gr swc and 230gr rn. and with a good number of different brand magazines. No issues with any mag. or ammo, ever. If your 108282 is anything like mine, you are going to be very happy

Mine came with ACT magazines. I have also used Colt 7-rounders, Wilson 47D's, and Checkmate 7-rounders. All have worked fine.
