CCW with a 10 round mag?

Anyone CCW with a 10-round magazine?

I currently CCW with a Government Model in an IWB holster. I'm considering getting some Chip McCormick 10-round Power Mags, but I'm reasonably sure they will print ridiculously if I try to carry with one. I'm thinking maybe transitioning to a shoulder holster. I'm thinking a vertical shoulder holster probably wouldn't print, but I think I might prefer a horizontal shoulder holster. But does the Government Model have too long of a barrel to wear in a horizontal shoulder holster?

I would worry more about who you are sweeping when you draw from a horizontal shoulder holster than about how it prints.

10-rounders as reloads probably makes more sense than trying to conceal them. I'd expect the mag to protrude too much for concealment with a vertical shoulder holster.

A strong "yes" to both, although I wouldn't use a 10 round .45 acp 1911 mag for CCW purposes at all.

The first round out of a 1911 10 round mag tends to want to nosedive and jam - at least in my colt - never tried a Chip McCormick though - I use Tripp Cobramags and the 8 round mags are great - the 10 nosedives the first round - I've read recommendations to not trust the 10 rounders.

10-round Chip McCormick mags are very common in competition. That would not be the case if they didn't work.

I have a couple of Tripp 10x.45 and they do fine in the gun I bought them for.

This pic shows one of the two reloads carried in a Mernickle pouch on my off side hip all day today. I haven't had any problems with the mags I use.

Stick with 7 rounds, as God and John Browning intended. I note this post is almost two years old, what did you decide?
