    Book Forum???

I recommend a new forum to discuss / review books related to 1911's and handguns in general of technical and historical nature. Most shooters / collectors I know have a considerable stash of publications that they rely on and would enjoy knowing about where others are obtaining their reference materials from. Furthermore there may be authors here on m1911.org that would desire a location to share their labors of love. Several other forums that I frequent have such a place and they are well used.

Well we already have a directory of sorts.

"The 1911 was the design, given by God to us through John M. Browning, that represents the epitome of what a killing tool needs to be. It was true in 1911 and it's true now." - Col. Robert Coates commanding, U.S. Marine Corp Special Operations Command Detachment 1 (DET 1)

Is a new forum needed? Can't we use the General Discussion forum? I mean you suggest a new forum for books about 1911s and handguns in general, the General Discussion forum is perfect for that.

If you have a moment take a look at luger.gunboards.com , the very last forum heading. What a way to pay homage to those that are willing to share information. Take a look at the number of members that patronize the issuers at hand. Thanks for your time.

Well, I am not against a new forum, I just do not like to see too many forums, which end up not being used. Let's wait and see what the other members think.

I don't know what to say really apart that I would like to see more people using this forum, as it used to be several years ago when I joined.
I take part to other forums too, LUGER forums included, for instance personally: http://www.lugerforum.com/ is probably one of the best.
I think there is some sort of "dispersion" I mean many people join very small forums that have been opened recently, without a point really, as in my opinion the fewer are the members and the fewer are the chances to get correct answers when needed.

Originality can't be restored, so put "originality" at the top of a priority list. If JMB didn't put it on the 1911 you don't need it.

I'm pretty much brand new here so don't know how much my thoughts on the subject matter, but it would seem that would fit in with General Discussion just fine. I would definitely keep my eyes on a new forum if it was created though and look for useful suggestions.
