    I have read Col. Jeff Cooper's book Combat Mindset more than once. I know the nomenclature of condition one
    However Auto Ordnance manual screwed up on this one

    Your first mistake was in reading the manual. Manuals today are written by lawyers ans make no sense at all.

    i just found it odd that its the exact opposite of what everyone who owns a 1911 knows

    No different than the holster manufacturers who build a holster for cocked and locked carry then tell you you shouldn't do it because it's unsafe.

    Or the holster makers who build holsters for 1911s and include retention straps that won't fit over a cocked hammer ...

    I've switched to a vertical shoulder rig, hammer and slide stop are protected by leather and a horizontal leather strap is snapped across the trigger guard.

    Good access wearing layered clothing, sitting and driving.
