New Member of the Nighthawk Custom Family

Just purchased a new Nighthawk Custom Talon. I am new to shooting, and purchased an HK VP9 for Christmas, but while at the range, fell in love with the Talon.

I've only shot off 100 rounds in it, but can say that my grouping at much better. This 1911 is tight!

I'll get a Range Report next time I go. I was a bit flustered the first 100 rounds, as the pistol is so tight, it kept jamming.

Brought it home, gave it a good cleaning and lube, and hope to be back at the range in a day or two to shot through a few hundred more and loosen that baby up.

Jamming?!?!!? Hmmm, that's a first. I've never heard of a NHC pistol that was so tight to make it jam on the first rounds.

    Keep us in the loop.

Well, I am new to the sport, i.e. purchased my first pistol December 2015. Now I have 3. Added a Springfield Mod2 9mm to my collection the other day.

Anyway, I have starting private lessons this weekend, and I spoke to my instructor about the issue. He is wanting us to use the Nighthawk so he can see what's going on. My issues are FTE's. Limp wristing the Talon... I suppose so. We will see.

    I'll keep you informed.

FTE? Failure to Extract? Fail to Eject? Describe your failure, so we can help.

Don't accept limp-wristing as a cause for malfunctions. Limp-wristing is a symptom, pure and simple. A properly-working 1911 should have no problems disgorging the contents of its magazine out the front end, when held with 2-3 fingers and your strong-hand elbow bent/unlocked.

(warning: performing the above experiment for more than 1-2 mags can get a little painful on your hand, plus you'll probably attract some unfavorable attention, if you are at a public range...)

    Check your extractor tension.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.
