Although it may just be a non-scientific opinion, I find my stubby paws to be much too small for a double stack pistol while they wrap around a single stack 1911 45 ACP quite nicely. To me, thinner grip panels to be slightly more comfortable than thicker grips. In fact, the only thing my teensie digits don't enjoy about a 1911 is a long trigger. Unfortunately, I learn slow. Real slow. Sloths have been known to move miles while I ponder the simplist of things, such as trigger length.
Take, for example, my carry pistols. An Ed Brown Kobra Carry that I have had for almost five years and a Volkmann Combat Carry that I have had since 2012. Both of these pistols came with long triggers. In fact, I originally ordered a long trigger on my Volkmann so it would match the trigger on the Brown.
I am really attached to these pistols. I have shot them a lot. My Volkmann is a blued pistol. I have tried to treat it kindly. It sees holster time and some range duty. The Brown is a stainless pistol so I volunteered it for rougher treatment than my shiny blue Volkmann. I used the Brown for my CHL qualifications. I have taken it out to the range so it can roll around in the sandy loam soil while taking, and missing, pot shots at steel plate and silhouettes. In keeping with my slow learning, I discovered, way too late, that scrubbing that soil off a pistol with a rag is almost as effective at ruining a finish as using a belt sander to polish your car. Don't ask how I know. In any case, I have been wanting short triggers on the pistols and to see what could be done for the Brown's cosmetics for quite some time.
I slowly hit on the idea of asking Luke if he could salvage my Brown and put matching short triggers and actions on the Brown and the Volkmann. Luke and I tossed around some finishing options for the Brown. After he had a chance to see the pistols, he said he could make the stainless Brown look like new. I decided to take him up on that finish option and also decided to have him refinish the Volkmann in something a bit more friendly to holster time.
With my introduction complete, I introduce you to my Brown/Volkmann refinish:
And here are two pictures of the refinished Volkmann:
For a before picture, you can see my Volkmann in its original finish and with its long trigger on this forum:

The only problem I have now is they look so pretty that I am reluctant to shoot them
Thanks Luke! These are perfect!
