Nice to hear of your visit, updates on your gun look nice. I had them build me a new 70 series with their Elite Combat package. Could not have been any happier.

I'm happy to hear that you had a great result with their work. That's what we always want and very often don't get with some of them. I'm very pleased and intend to visit them again when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Like yours, my S/S Gunsite Service Pistolwas a dud from the day I first shot it. I also sent it off to Brent at Colt and 17 months later it's back and it's flawless. I have my first Series 70, circa 1975, that's pretty much stock, in great (95%) condition, but it's been carried and shot. I'd like to have the upgrades you had done and based on your report and satisfaction with the results, it looks like Novak is the way to go, especially time wise. Thanks for the report Joni..
17 months??!!?? Wow. Mine was a quick trip of a month or so, maybe 2 or 3 I don't really remember except that when it came back it worked as expected.
I passed on many of things that people might want done to a 1911, no extractor tuning, no barrel replacement, no serrations or checkering. Many of those little touches I always read about I just didn't want on this one. I didn't want to have so much invested that I'd be afraid to take it out and shoot it a lot. It'll also see some holster use if I'm lucky.
I tweaked the extractor a little bit and installed an EGW flat bottom firing pin stop. Maybe I'll get to try it out soon.

POI agree, the Gunsite comes with most of the enhancements stock, in a plain wrapper, so to speak. The warranty work alone was simple and I'd prolly have it back in 2 months. I figured while it was there I'd have the front strap checkered to match most of my other 1911's and also finish the flats like the S/S Delta. The gun got lost in the system and thankfully Brent came to the rescue. Like I stated, it's flawless now.
I gave only a fleeting thought to having some work done to my Gunsite. I decided to leave it alone so it would remain just like the one my friend has.
Did you post any pics of yours?
Feel free to add one to this thread if you want.

Very nice Joni. I like the looks of it. It could be maybe the fraternal twin of my XSE-not quite identical.
