Black oxide is simply gun blueing.

Right. It's just a matter of how the surface is prepared before the bluing is applied. Black oxide is just bluing which was applied to steel which was not given a final polish. The Colt Model O1918 "Black Army" is the same finish.

Judging by AO's pricing, the Parkerizing is the more expensive finish by about $50 or so.

The Tufftride/Tennifer/Melonite process is described in this booklet by H.E.F. Durferrit.

The TUFFTRIDE QPQ process is known in English-speaking and Asian countries under that name, in Europe and German-speaking countries as TENIFER QPQ and in the USA as MELONITE QPQ. TUFFTRIDEŽ, TENIFERŽ and MELONITEŽ are registered trademarks of Durferrit GmbH.
A black oxide layer is produced as part of the Tufftride/Tennifer/Melonite process.

A specially developed cooling bath (AB 1 bath) is used for carrying out the oxidative treatment after salt bath nitrocarburizing. During this treatment a black iron oxide layer (magnetite) is produced on the surface of the treated parts, which greatly enhances the corrosion resistance.
Another company booklet provides more detail about the black oxide layer and the outer compound layer of the nitrocarburized layer.

The compound layer divides in a compact part and a porous part which is situated directly at the surface. The latter is also called pore zone. It is used as lubricant reservoir and supports the good dry-running operation properties of the treated parts. During oxidizing cooling the pores are almost filled with magnetite, which anchors optimal the protecting oxide layer.

"Black iron oxide", eh? It sure sounds a lot better than 'black rust'...
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

I own Auto Ordance BKO 1911 photo above is Auto Ordance 1911 BKO that own. Fit finish on this 1911 handgun out standing you can shake all want it is so tight does rattle. The machine work nice to when took part field strip there where no visible machine marks inside slide or on frame. The black finish looks better when see in person than does any photos take of the handgun. Is there short coming yes trigger nothing right home about it has 80 series slide safety built in slide reflect buy kind trigger pull you well get. But than again not bad trigger pull not gone be match grade 1911 trigger pull reflect buy price again. Good thing about 1911 they throat barrel polish feed ramp so want shoot hallow points in this handgun you can do wrath relabel . For about $480.00 dollars what pay new for this handguns at Budsgunshop.com it good deal for all American made handgun. At price point only getting one box one magazine the handgun it self. Get one year warranty I bought life time warranty from gun dealer so warranty was issue for me. I have shot 500 rounds through handgun been bore reliable only thing I do get better magazines than what came with this handgun.
