Why I hate Fujifilm X100

When this camera was announced, I thought it was going to be my all-around camera, so I paid the money and got it.

Having owned it and used it for some years now, I can only regret my $1,500 I spend for it.

While it is a nice camera, small in size, light in weight, with a nice lens, it has so many shortcomings that sometimes I really feel like throwing it in the sea. Like last night, for example.

We spent the whole day yesterday, at the beach, celebrating our National Holiday (Greece Independance Date) and my wife's birthday. Towards the evening, I snapped this picture shown below.

Look on those light bulbs!

Not that this was the first time I have noticed them, but I was hoping that with the latest firmware upgrade that Fuji release some time ago, they had rectified that issue. Nope. It's still there.

I have to remember that this is a day-only camera, from now on. Or at least I have to make sure that there are no light sources in my evening pictures.

I hate that!!!!

It almost looks like what might happen if you put a really poor quality UV filter on a reflex lens and try shooting the moon, or stars, etc!

The filter is Hoya HMC, one of the most expensive filters in the market.

Try shooting the same shot, with and without the filter... just to be sure.

Done that Spyro, same result, it's a problem with that camera. Known issue, since long time ago.

Could we call that a sort of keystone effect? Where the light reflects off the surfaces of the lens elements. I would imagine it would be a tough shot for many cameras.
If I was faced with that shot and had my D200...I would stop the lens down and lengthen the exposure time....tripod mounted camera of course.

I do not know what it is due to, what I know is, that it is silly. I am going to try and shoot this again with my Nikons, somehow I do not think I'll see this blobs around light sources.
