Stolen Kimber frim Nov. 2010 RETURNED!!!

    Hi all,

In late November of 2010 my Kimber Ultra-Carry II was stolen from my vehicle in Waterford, MI. I have good news today, the Waterford Twp. Police Dept. contacted me on Monday and reported that they have my gun. It apparently was found on a drug raid by the Oakland County, MI Sheriff's Dept., and has been sitting as evidence for a trial for over a year. I went there and picked it up this afternoon, and although one of my Wilson Combat mags is missing, I at least have the gun back. It has been neglected, and looks like it has not been cleaned since it was stolen from me. Now comes the arduous task of cleaning all the gunk and rust out of it.

Excellent news. I hope it can be cleaned up to a satisfactory condition.

Hoping so Hawk. So far most of it is some sort of sludge caked all over the inside of the slide. Some rust on the barrel, hammer, grip safety which has (mostly) cleaned up with a few soakings of G96, ballistol, and elbow grease with a scotchbrite pad. Might try 4-0 steel wool on the barrel next. It wasn't too gummed up to cycle, but did notice a bit of work needed to cock the hammer manually. The finish is still in great shape. From what little I could find out, it was found under a mattress somewhere during a raid. That was written on the box that it was returned to me in.
