CheckMate puts an indentation on the top right front of the mag tube to make clearance of the mag catch easier. Wilson 47 series mags don't have that indentation, though I believe Wilson ETM's do have that feature. Just give your Wilson 47 series mags a sharp smack and they will clear the mag catch.
Watch Tiger McKee slap his Wilson 47's into his 1911 in this video.

Details concerning the indentation JTQ mentioned can be found on the Ordnance magazine tube blueprint in our Tech Issues section, 15th bulleted link down from the top. An improperly formed magazine catch can also cause these same problems. The catch's blueprint is there too.
All this assumes an EFS is made to M1911A1 specs - whatever an EFS is.

I was thinking the same, but figured it must be some sort of 1911, in which case it doesn't really matter as the answer is the same.Originally Posted by niemi24s
Yeah, I guess that is a good safe assumption. Too many of those catchy sounding three letter gun model abbreviations for me to keep track of. And I suppose if it really mattered, a Google search would reveal its maker.Originally Posted by JTQ

Hey,
For those asking, the EFS is a Charles Daly 1911 5". I have one. Very happy with it.
Concerning the mags, I use nothing but Wilson 8 rnd mags **edit - 47D**. I've never had the problem you are describing. They have worked fantastic (for me) right out of the bag unmodified. In all honesty, I've never considered using another brand just because these have been such high quality and performed so well. Is it possible there have been mods done to your EFS that might cause it? Do you have another Wilson to try and see if has the same issue?

Wilson Combat makes more than one line of magazines, and it would be very helpful if people asking about Wilson mags would be specific as to which Wilson Combat mags they are asking about. They offer the well-known 47Ds, the ETMs, and the Service Mag Plus.
Which are we talking about?

Yeah it's a Charles Daly pistol only 1911 that doesn't work with these mags. Not sure if they are 47d or etm
I got them about five years ago and used them through uspa league.
Are the 'witness' slots on the side of the magazine more or less centered, from the front and rear corners, or are they decidedly more to the rear?Originally Posted by stgdz
If the slots are centered, you have 47Ds. If they are about two thirds to the rear, you have ETMs.
Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold.

And if they are staggered (like GI magazines) you have Service Mag Pluses. Although I don't think those are available in an 8-round version.
